April 15 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The Joint Collaborative Committees (JCCs), a partnership between Doctors of BC and the BC government, are hosting a Community-Based Experiential Learning session in collaboration with Len Pierre Consulting on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. at the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Líl̓wat7úl Cultural Centre in Whistler, BC.

This session provides cultural safety and humility teachings through immersive learning and provides opportunities for ongoing relationship-building with Indigenous communities.

During these sessions, physicians will experience:

  • Cultural safety teachings through an immersive, “circle and the box” learning
  • Teachings and protocols from local/regional Indigenous communities
  • A shared meal, language, history, and stories
  • A deeper understanding of residential school trauma.
  • Connections with local health staff and providers.
  • The opportunity for ongoing learning and relationship-building between participants and Indigenous communities.

Please note that space is limited to 60 participants.

Sessional time, dinner, and mileage exceeding 50 km one-way are provided. We welcome registration from interprofessional team members (ITMs) who make up team-based care and offer a stipend to ITMs who are not salaried.

We are grateful to hold this session on the unceded, ancestral, and traditional shared territory of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and Líl̓wat7úl (Lil’wat) Nations.

Register. If you have questions, please email jcc@doctorsofbc.ca.
