During these sessions, physicians will experience:
- Immersive & interactive cultural safety teachings
- Protocols from local/regional Indigenous communities
- A shared meal, language, history, and stories
- A deeper understanding of residential school trauma.
- Connections with local health staff, providers, and community members
Please note that sessional time and mileage exceeding 50km one-way will be covered by the JCCs.
Space is limited to 50 participants.
We are grateful to hold this session on the unceded, ancestral, and traditional territory of the T’exelcemc (people of Sugarcane) who have lived on and stewarded these lands since time out of mind. You can learn more about T’exelc in this video .
In these sessions, themes of colonial genocide, systematic separation from Indigenous identity, land and culture and the resulting mental and physical health disparities, will be discussed. These themes may surface personal stories and participants are encouraged to prepare to hear this difficult journey.
