The Joint Standing Committee on Rural Issues will be reimbursing rural physicians 50% of the Canadian Medical Protective Association’s (CMPA’s) 2025-26 fee that remains after the annual Doctors of BC rebate. Physicians must be eligible for JSC’s RRP Flat Fee, which includes living and working in an eligible rural community.
Additionally, as a one-time benefit this year for rural maternity physicians, JSC is reimbursing 100% of the remaining 2025-2026 CMPA fee after the Doctors of BC rebate. In addition to meeting JSC’s rural eligibility requirements, rural maternity physicians must hold the CMPA designation of “Obstetrics” or “Family Medicine/GP with Obstetrics and be providing rural maternity services.
No applications are needed for these reimbursements as payment will be made automatically via direct deposit to physician accounts in September 2026.
This support is funded by the 2025 Physician Main Agreement (PMA), and it acknowledges the unique challenges of recruiting and retaining physicians in rural BC.
