SUMMARY:Dialogue on Virtual Care: A learning exchange with Kaiser Permanente
DESCRIPTION:UPDATE (June 2021): Read the event summary.\n\nStakeholders are invited to join a province-wide online knowledge exchange about adopting virtual health care services as a complement to in-person primary care. This event is hosted by the General Practice Services Committee (GPSC).\n\nKeynote speaker Dr Khang Nguyen is the Physician Director of the Virtual Medical Center (VMC) and Clinical Call Center Kaiser Permanente\, which administers one of the largest non-profit health care plans in the USA. Kaiser Permanente’s mission is to provide high-quality\, affordable health care services and to improve the health of their members and the communities they serve.\n\nWith nearly 20 years of experience with family medicine and Kaiser Permanente\, Dr Nguyen is leading innovative improvements to health care experiences for physicians and patients. He has created a single point of access for patients and physicians\, bringing together thousands of  physicians covering 4.7 million patients. The VMC serves about 22 million calls across Southern California each year.\n\nDiscussions will focus on how virtual care can support access\, relationships and continuity between patients and providers.\n\nHear how virtual care can support team-based care\, care coordination\, message management and preventative care across a region.\nLearn about the use of technology in a way that provides person-centered care and the healing of a relationship based approach to care.\nConnect and network with a province-wide group of health care stakeholders.\n\nBC doctors can earn 2.5 CME MainPro+ Group Learning credits as this event is certified by the UBC Continuing Professional Development and meets the certification criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada. \n\nPlease contact the GPSC for additional information including event registration.
